So a couple weeks ago Jeff "Beachbum" Berry came down to the Tiki-Ti for a book signing for his recently released re-issue of Sippin' Safari. Jeff was once a regular at Tiki-Ti back when he was living in LA and so it was great getting to chat with him and Tiki-Ti owner, Mike Buhen Sr, about the old days and what's happened since then with Jeff's journey from becoming a cocktail recipe sleuth to growing into a world reknown author, mixologist and owner of one of the planet's premiere cocktail bars.

Today we've got another hangout episode where we turn the mics on while enjoying a couple of cocktails. We typically do these Inside the Desert Oasis Room however today, we thought it would be fun to do this one from the Tiki-Ti. The Tiki-Ti was established in 1961 by Ray Buhen, one of Don the Beachcomber's original barmen so it's a popular spot for tiki and bar industry folks to gather. Every Wednesday we do a Toast To Ray, so Wednesday's tend to be upbeat and jovial as you will see here. Come join us Inside the Tiki-Ti...

So back in February of this year we recorded a Swapcast with 5 Mintues of Rum and after that session we turned the mics on while we mixed and enjoyed some cocktails at the Rincon Room. This episode was never planned and as in any festive gathering it gets really noisy and because of that, I initially chose to not air this episode. Fast forward to 4 months later and while cleaning my archives I stumble across this recording. After listening to it I realized it was just too much fun to not let you guys join in!

About 2 months ago, I was privileged to be included in a music video for Jason Lee and the RIP-Tide's new single Mr Moai's Mash. The video follows Mr Tiki Head, a popular fixture in the So Cal tiki scene, around San Diego as he gathers his buddies to join him for a Jason Lee and the RIP-Tides concert at The Tower Bar. We recorded this episode at the preview party, which was held for those that were involved in the making of this music video and we hear some funny stories of what the process was like to make the video. Now, if you haven't seen the video yet, you can find it on YouTube by searching for "Jason Lee Mr Moai's Mash" or click this link:

Today we chat with Tribal Theory! Founded in 2005 in San Diego, California, Tribal Theory creates and performs their own brand of urban reggae and feel good island music. We recorded this episode from their green room at the House of Blues where they were headlining an all-star line up with CRSB, Bo Napoleon and Eli-Mac. Such a friendly and gracious group of guys, it was really great getting to know them, hearing the story of how the band got started, their song writing process and the delicate art of "rubber-necking!"
